My favourite celebration of the year

I have had many celebration through the years from birthday celebration to Easter celebration and so on.I can still remember vividly how I celebrate them every year but one of my favorite celebration is the New year celebration which is what I would be talking briefly about.

Given the chance to see a new year is something that's adds so much excitement to everyone. The fact that I could be alive to see a new year despite all the troubles and calamities that happened through the year is a thing of joy for me.

Why I enjoy New year celebrations Celebrating new years here in Nigeria is a lot different from how other countries celebrate theirs but it's always filled with fun and it's also a memorable one too. My most memorable New year celebration was the one of January 1st 2021.

It was a memorable for me because the covid 19 pandemic started from 2019 down to 2020 and 2020 itself was a year whereby many lives where lost some people lost their wives while some lost some of their siblings to pandemic also lots of people had to starve since they couldn't work due to the lock down in the country.

So having the chance to see the beginning of this year was a blessing in this disguise for me and my family as a whole.

How I prepare for my New year celebrations . This year's celebration preparation has actually started from last month.I have bought some native wears ,lots of shirts and trousers because once it's December period things do become very expensive and those in the boutiques do sell their clothes at an higher price since they believe it's Christmas time and people would have no choice than to purchase or buy them at a given price.

Here are what were involved in the New year Celebration

As a Christian we do go to church at night of December 31st which we call the crossover night. While in the church we praise God and then worship him while we wait for 12:00am which makes the beginning of a New year. Once it's 12:00am different members of the church would start jumping up and praising God for making them see another year and they also wish other members of the church a Happy New year. After that we go to our various houses to go have some rest.

Then once it's daybreak I do visit my family house as they do celebrate new year every year. They do cook mostly swallow food such as Eba and Poundo YAM and rice (white rice and jollof rice). Also,my dad and his siblings do contribute a certain amount of money to purchase a Cow for the celebration. That's where I do celebrate new year eating, listening to different kinds of music such as Hip-hop and Fuji music. Once it's night time we all leave for our various houses.
